ADRIENNE SMITH – PoYO Founder, Teacher 500HR E-RYT, Professional Triathlete
Adrienne is a Certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga Teacher, a Live Love Teach Affiliate Teacher, a Professional Triathlete and the owner of Power of Your Om. She has spent her entire life being active and started practicing yoga after graduating from college. Adrienne’s teachers include Deborah Williamson, Philip Urso, Stacy Dockins and Baron Baptiste –they all have had an astounding influence on her as a person, a student and a teacher. Adrienne enjoys being a student but found her calling for empowering others when she became a teacher. She realizes the practice of yoga exists in everything she does in her life – from her athletic endeavors to her relationships. Yoga to Adrienne is about being true to yourself, your beliefs, listening to your gut, leading your life with love, and pushing past the limitations of our mind which she experiences everyday in her triathlon training. When Adrienne teaches people yoga…it’s not about getting into poses with foreign names, it’s not about being perfect. Instead, it’s about getting stronger, letting our guards down, working out the stress from life, finding some internal stillness while life gives us chaos, and taking our “workout” off the mat and into the world. We only get one life.
Erica’s classes are inspired by the creative flow of Vinyasa, the astuteness of Ashtanga, and the life-affirming essence of Anusara. Grounded in a supportive and inviting space for every body to experience the benefits of yoga, she weaves a balance of intensity and grace into creative, mindful movements that build physical strength and flexibility, reduce stress and quiet the mind. Erica uses the arena of yoga to challenge students to explore their potential on the mat and take that playful curiosity into the rest of their lives to spark a sense that anything and everything is possible .
Meredith started practicing yoga as a way to keep moving in between dance seasons and immediately fell in love with the flow of breath and body. As an artist and teacher she is constantly inspired by the balance of strength and flexibility in yoga and how clearly that translates to living daily life. To Meredith, every aspect of yoga points to a greater freedom of mind, body, and spirit and she wants to share her experience of this with people through challenging students (and herself!) to get vulnerable and try new things!
MALLORY DOPPMANN – Certified Yoga Personal Trainer, Yoga Body Bootcamp Basic Trainer, Teacher RYT 200
Mallory has been around yoga since her childhood, she would tag along with her mom to practice Iyengar yoga frequently. Since then, Mallory’s practice has continued to expand as she tried out various different styles of yoga, including getting certified by Deborah Williamson as a Yoga Body Bootcamp Certified Basic Trainer. Her transformative experience came through practicing heated vinyasa yoga which ignited her passion to a new level by allowing her to find strength in going beyond her comfort zone, letting go of her past and present fears as well as what it means to live here and now. Mallory believes yoga is a journey that is ongoing and acknowledges the interchangeable cycle that today’s perfections might be yesterday’s imperfections, or vice versa, either way they have zero meaning if you are living in the NOW.
MELANIE ELKIN – Teacher & Yoga’licious Creator, CYPT
“There is no passion to be found in playing small, for a life that is less than you are capable of living—PLAY BIG.” Melanie started her career in the fitness industry while at UCSB studying Exercise and Health Science, and it was through this experience and her ongoing healing with her relationship with her own body that she found her passion and purpose to start a career in the health and wellness field. Melanie started her business Believe and Achieve Fitness in 2009 and shortly thereafter fell in LOVE with the practice of Yoga. Her approach to yoga is to guide you into becoming your greatest teacher. Eventually realizing that there is no separation between the hour we spend together in the ‘Yoga classroom’ and your life. She will empower each student to celebrate the perfection in your ‘imperfections’, laugh, cry, and begin to live your Full Self Expression.
Yvette practices yoga because she finds it to be a genuine approach at grounding all spheres of a person–body, mind and soul. She began practicing regularly as a way to strengthen the whole body and to experience sensational challenges that she also lives out as a dancer, but it was the beauty of a Vinyasa flow–the the integration of the breath with the natural anatomical flows of the body that can instigate a greater sense of awareness–that inspired her to continue this practice. Yvette is interested in sharing this heightened sense of awareness to foster reawakening of the inner childhood love of movement with her students. Every class offers an opportunity for all parties to grow deeper into our true selves by simply moving these beautiful bodies around together in a mindful way.
