ADRIENNE SMITH – PoYO Founder, Teacher 500HR E-RYT, Professional Triathlete
Adrienne is a Certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga Teacher, a Live Love Teach Affiliate Teacher, a Professional Triathlete and the owner of Power of Your Om. She has spent her entire life being active and started practicing yoga after graduating from college. Adrienne’s teachers include Deborah Williamson, Philip Urso, Stacy Dockins and Baron Baptiste –they all have had an astounding influence on her as a person, a student and a teacher. Adrienne enjoys being a student but found her calling for empowering others when she became a teacher. She realizes the practice of yoga exists in everything she does in her life – from her athletic endeavors to her relationships. Yoga to Adrienne is about being true to yourself, your beliefs, listening to your gut, leading your life with love, and pushing past the limitations of our mind which she experiences everyday in her triathlon training. When Adrienne teaches people yoga…it’s not about getting into poses with foreign names, it’s not about being perfect. Instead, it’s about getting stronger, letting our guards down, working out the stress from life, finding some internal stillness while life gives us chaos, and taking our “workout” off the mat and into the world. We only get one life.
Erica’s classes are inspired by the creative flow of Vinyasa, the astuteness of Ashtanga, and the life-affirming essence of Anusara. Grounded in a supportive and inviting space for every body to experience the benefits of yoga, she weaves a balance of intensity and grace into creative, mindful movements that build physical strength and flexibility, reduce stress and quiet the mind. Erica uses the arena of yoga to challenge students to explore their potential on the mat and take that playful curiosity into the rest of their lives to spark a sense that anything and everything is possible .
Meredith started practicing yoga as a way to keep moving in between dance seasons and immediately fell in love with the flow of breath and body. As an artist and teacher she is constantly inspired by the balance of strength and flexibility in yoga and how clearly that translates to living daily life. To Meredith, every aspect of yoga points to a greater freedom of mind, body, and spirit and she wants to share her experience of this with people through challenging students (and herself!) to get vulnerable and try new things!
MALLORY DOPPMANN – Certified Yoga Personal Trainer, Yoga Body Bootcamp Basic Trainer, Teacher RYT 200
Mallory has been around yoga since her childhood, she would tag along with her mom to practice Iyengar yoga frequently. Since then, Mallory’s practice has continued to expand as she tried out various different styles of yoga, including getting certified by Deborah Williamson as a Yoga Body Bootcamp Certified Basic Trainer. Her transformative experience came through practicing heated vinyasa yoga which ignited her passion to a new level by allowing her to find strength in going beyond her comfort zone, letting go of her past and present fears as well as what it means to live here and now. Mallory believes yoga is a journey that is ongoing and acknowledges the interchangeable cycle that today’s perfections might be yesterday’s imperfections, or vice versa, either way they have zero meaning if you are living in the NOW.
LAURA DUSCHANE – Teacher RYT 200
After Laura experienced her first Savasana, she knew there was something to this practice called Yoga. It wasn’t long after her first class that Laura found herself in the yoga studio daily, sometimes even twice a day. She could feel the physical benefits of yoga in her body, but when she found herself using yoga principles off her mat to help guide her through her daily life, she knew she wanted to teach. The power of healing within yoga was something that Laura wanted to share with everyone. Laura has completed teacher trainings in Power Vinyasa Yoga and Hot Yoga through CorePower Yoga in Minneapolis, MN. Incorporating music from the Beatles to Krishna Das, her classes will challenge the body and breath, leaving you with the “Yoga bliss” after class. When not at the yoga studio, Laura enjoys tossing around a frisbee, riding her bike, listening to vinyl records, and geeking out on yoga stuff.
Christina first started practicing yoga to cultivate balance and manage stress while working as an agent in the entertainment industry. She grew up an active child, but navigating the waters of Los Angeles, she found herself falling into unhealthy eating habits and an unbalanced lifestyle. In 2011, Christina rediscovered her love of the outdoors and adventure in Santa Barbara when she moved here with her husband and cats. She started training for triathlons, teaching spin classes and took up practicing yoga on a more regular basis at Power of Your Om Santa Barbara. It became a place to calm her mind, but still challenge her athletic spirit. Christina completed her 200-hour teacher training with Adrienne Hengels at Power of Your Om in 2013. She strives to motivate others to realize their infinite potential both on and off the mat while furthering her practice in yoga, triathlon, running, snowboarding and more.
